A busy weekend...

Christmas is around corner. Tengku Mahkota and I have been very busy doing our shopping to get christmas gifts. It's not easy to think what to get for so many ppl. Both of us are very fussy. We want to make sure the gift that we give to our friends and family are useful to them. I spent 2.30 hour on saturday afternoon to wrap gifts. The theme of the color for 2008 is RED and I used all RED wrappers.

We made a few rounds to Isetan and we really love the way they wrap the gifts. Gifts in various shapes can be nicely wrapped by those girls. They're really good. Tengku Mahkota and I learned a few tricks from them by watching them wrapping the gift.

I'm not sure i'll have to blog again in the next few days. Hence, I wish everyone --> 'Have a blessed Christmas!'

Lotus at home

We've got a new plant at home ---> Lotus and it's purple in color. *pretty*

Kapitan Yap has bought a number of fish and put in the pot to eat all the mozitoes. Since he's away for mission trip, we have to ensure that fish are alive and well until he came back. Permaisuri Yap has been anxious about the fish to feed them on time everyday.

Christmas is here again

It is the time of the year again...Christmas...

I prefer christmas than chinese new year.

it's end of the year as well...

The common questions are:-

'When are you taking off?'

'Where are you going for holidays?'

Have a blessed christmas!

Chicky Pie

Few weeks back, thanks to Pepper, I finally has to chance to fulfil my dream ---> Bake a Chicky Pie.

We couldn't find the puff pastry from Tesco. Tengku Mahkota suggested we used Roti canai. Hence we bought the roti canai to put on top. Thank god, the size of the roti canai fits nicely after i put in the stuff.

Thanks pepper for the kitchen, time and oven!!! Opss...I think i messed up  your kitchen as well.
I clean for you next time ok?

Oink-oink pie

I'm so sad to hear that Irish pork has toxin contamination

Oh dear, no more oink-oink pie for Christmas??!!!

Tengku Mahkota and I were introduced to Oink-oink pie when we celebrated Christmas in London. It's pretty nice to eat even though personally I don't fancy pork most of the time.

I'm pretty fussy when it comes to pork. I don't enjoy the suckling pig that restaurants serve during wedding dinner because I find that oink-oink smell is too strong even though Tengku Mahkota always tells me 'it's crispy'.  Too bad, I don't like the taste. Permaisuri Yap asked me to try at the cousin's wedding the other day. Guess what i did? I put so much of black sweet-sweet sauce to cover the oink-oink smell. At the end of the day, i said 'I don't know what's the taste, i know it's sweet' That's it. Don't ask me to try that suckling pig again.

For Cantonese folks during wedding, the bride's family will ask for a suckling pig. This is done to recognise that the bride is a virgin. Being a Hokkien and I've never came to know pig is so important in Cantonese culture. Then I came to learn that why restaurant serves suckling pig during chinese wedding dinner in this busy land.

Back to my oink oink topic, now i miss the Char Siew Bao in the Sunday market. IT's sooooo sedaaaaaaap. The gravy of that Char Siew Bao is so rich. I've started to wonder is it due to the sugar content in the gravy that makes it so sedaaaaaaaaaaap? Anyway, eat in moderation and that's healthy lifestyle we should have in our daily lives.
